Joint Space
Services

The philosophy of Joint Space is to provide an environment that allows an individual to start their journey from a place of pain and injury to eventually become autonomous in how they manage their body, reach their movement potential and remain as pain free and healthy as possible.

Whilst supported by movement practices and movement coaching, the beginning of this journey from injury and pain starts with our initial array of clinical services, Osteopathy, Physiotherapy and Chiropractic medicine. Whilst all of these professions can manage any pain presentations or injuries, each profession has its own subtle specialisations, individual strengths and unique approaches.

A general note, if you have acute lower back pain or a neck spasm or disc irritation, Chiropractic or Osteopathy may be more suitable for you. If you are looking for post surgery care for an ACL reconstruction, or are returning to play from an injury and want to be game ready, Physiotherapy may be more applicable to you.

If however you are looking to improve your posture, are suffering from general stiffness in your spine or in your musculature, have a chronic injury that doesn’t seem to go away, then Osteopathy, Physiotherapy or Chiropractic are equally applicable to you. If you’re still not sure, our trained reception staff will be able to guide you through to who the right practitioner is for you when you call to book your appointment.

CHIROPRACTIC

Chiropractors are qualified health professionals who can assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, such as back and neck pain, minor sports injuries and sciatica. Chiropractic treatment can be beneficial for a number of reasons; relieving symptoms of pain and discomfort, improving mobility and reducing disability associated with muscle and joint problems.

Chiropractors are trained to use a range of techniques when treating their patients. They are best known for using manual methods of care, including spinal and joint manipulation (also referred to as ‘adjustment’) but may also use other hands-on or instrument-assisted approaches.

Chiropractors are trained to recognize when chiropractic treatment will not help a medical condition and will make a referral to your General Practitioner or another healthcare professional, if necessary.

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopaths believe everyone can benefit from a tailored, whole-person approach to health. Osteopaths are Healthcare professionals who take time to understand your individual history, circumstances and unique physiology, providing patients with a personalised health improvement plan. Osteopaths provide safe, effective treatment and care that aims to promote the health of patients, using manual therapy, health advice and exercise all tailored to the needs of the individual.

Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring. Osteopaths will also work with, or refer you to, other healthcare professionals as needed to ensure you receive optimum care. They take the time to understand each patient – your unique combination of symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. This helps to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your issue, and formulate a treatment plan with you that will achieve the best outcome.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing. At the core is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.

Patients can benefit from physiotherapy at any time in their lives. Physiotherapy helps with back pain or sudden injury, managing long-term medical conditions such as asthma, and in preparing for childbirth or a sporting event.

Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. Physiotherapists maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease. Physiotherapists aim to encourage development and facilitate recovery,  helping them remain independent for as long as possible.

PRACTICE

Practice at Joint Space provides an opportunity for people from all backgrounds of all experiences from beginners to elite athletes, to explore movement and all that comes with a practice. The principles of our practice aims to teach people how to observe and explore our physical potential,

Humans are self-organising organisms with an adaptable structure. This structure can be sculpted based on the environmental stressors that we are exposed to. However, In order for us to be sculpted in a beneficial way, we need to expose ourselves to an environment that provides the opportunity for these positive changes to occur.

Our practice is based on the principles of the sciences, movement arts, our ancestral roots, learning, and human development. Through these principles and the medium of variable movement situations, our practice teaches how to create patterns and order through what can be seemingly chaotic. This accordingly allows us to create our own unique style in how we move without the need to conform to any particular movement style.
